WFPB vs Vegan



Whole Food Plant Based Eating vs Vegan

Now, after viewing my last post you are probably thinking that it looks very much like a vegan eating plan.  But, actually it is not.  Veganism is more than an eating plan, it is a lifestyle.  People choose to be vegan with the main motivational reason being animal rights.  WFPB is chosen almost entirely for its health benefits.  The eating plans are similar if you are trying to eat healthy, but the big difference is, as a vegan, there are several junk food choices.  The above picture is an exaggeration of Vegan eating, but it is possible.

Things like:
          White (bread, potatoes, rice).  WFPB allows whole wheat.
          Chips (Doritos, Lays, Fritos, etc.) 
          Cookies (Oreos, Nutter Butter, etc.)
          Breakfast Dry Cereals (Cheerios,  Apple Jacks, Cocoa Puffs, etc.)

Now, that does not mean all vegans eat junk foods or entirely junk foods.  I wanted to make that very clear, I don’t want to offend vegans because I support their cause and they are justified in their choices due to their moral reasoning.  Health is just not their primary or only motivator as it is with Whole Food Plant Based eating.  The positive outcome to all of this, is there are more vegan recipes available that can be easily adapted to Whole Food Plant Based eating.  So, we have a huge collection of choices in preparing meals making the transition so much easier.

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy cooking, trying new recipes and in doing so, I gain a variety of different meal plans.  It’s fun and I look forward to the challenge.  We all have about 12 to 20 regular go to meals that we just continually rotate.  It’s time for a change.  I encourage you to replace about two of those a week in order to transition to your new Whole Food Plant Based plan.
